LIFELONG HEALTH AND WELLNESS:
At the heart of Vista del Monte’s
commitment to the Santa Barbara Community is the Fitness and
Aquatic Center designed for both residents and non-residents.
To extend the use and benefits beyond
the boundaries of Vista del Monte, the community has formed
collaborative partnerships with a number of non-profit organizations
having similar goals and objectives. In addition to group
use by these organizations, older adults from the community
may participate through individual memberships or separate
classes. On the basis that a comprehensive fitness
program is essential to the health (both physical and mental)
of participants, the Fitness and Aquatic Center emphasizes
improved strength, balance, coordination and cardiovascular
fitness. Along with these goes a measure of fun, derived from
the stimulation of new challenges, the pleasure of shared
efforts and new friendships, and the delight in achievement
of fitness goals. Participants at all levels of ability are
welcome. Exercise Pool The large heated (87–89 degree) indoor pool is accessible
by ramp and stairs. The pool is designed for individual and
group shallow water exercise and can also be used for lap
swimming.
Hydrotherapy Pool Our multiple-depth hydrotherapy pool is heated to 92 - 97 degrees at all times. Licensed physical therapists with our partner Summit Therapy Group (STG) are available by appointment for aquatic physical therapy services. STG specializes in therapy and wellness programs for older adults to improve individual vitality using a holistic approach.
Strength Training and Conditioning Room In addition to treadmills and stationary bicycles, equipment
for building overall muscular strength has been specially
designed and selected for an older population by Keiser, NuStep, Cybex and Startrak. In this attractive and fully equipped space,
participants learn the correct body mechanics for safe usage
of each piece of equipment and are assisted and monitored
by qualified staff. A separate area with mirrors is designated for posture
and balance exercises. Shower and Changing Rooms Men's and women's shower and changing rooms feature
changing areas, private showers, individual lockers, vanity
areas and restrooms. Their location provides easy access to
the pools and strength training and conditioning rooms. |
